About Pipe Major Donald Glass
I was born into a Glasgow family with a Hebridean background and joined the 214th Glasgow Company Boys’ Brigade when I was 12, it was there I learned to play the bagpipes. I played with the band for several years during which time they won many championships in their grade.
At eighteen I attended the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and qualified as a piping instructor.
A few years later I was invited to join the Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities’ Officers’ Training Corps Pipes & Drums and I was appointed Pipe Major a year later. I led the band to win many trophies, including the World Pipe Band Championship in their grade. It was during this time I began to compose music.
I have composed music for many private and ceremonial occasions, including the Master Chefs of France on behalf of Scottish Development International, Scottish Rugby Union: Sir Moir Lockhead – former CEO of FirstGroup PLC: Mr Boyd Tunnock – MD of Tunnock’s PLC: The Benevolent Society of the Licensed Trade of Scotland: the Incorporation of Maltmen in Glasgow: Tennent Caledonian Breweries: Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, Margaret Fulton – Australian Celebrity Chef.
I have enjoyed playing the bagpipes all over the world and composing music to celebrate weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and corporate events in a unique and memorable way.
I look foward to hearing from you.
